A welcome sequence with a purpose.
Three useful emails to help a new subscriber understand what comes next.
Before the first email
Make the signup promise clear: what will someone receive, and how often? Use a permission-based signup process, set up sender authentication with your provider, and make sure every marketing email includes a working unsubscribe option.
Email 1: Deliver what you promised
Suggested timing: immediately after confirmed signup.
Welcome the subscriber, share the resource or information they requested, and explain what future emails will contain. Keep one primary action. For a local business, that might be viewing the service menu or opening a getting-started guide.
Email 2: Solve one small problem
Suggested timing: about two days later.
Answer a question customers commonly ask. Give a practical tip they can use without buying. If you link to a product, explain why it helps instead of making a broad promise.
Email 3: Offer a clear next step
Suggested timing: about four days after signup.
Invite the reader to browse a relevant service, book an appointment, or explore a product. Use a truthful offer and explain who it suits. Don't invent scarcity or customer results.
Check the experience
- Test every link and the unsubscribe flow.
- Check mobile readability and sender details.
- Avoid enrolling existing customers in irrelevant sequences.
- Review clicks, replies, and unsubscribes; open rates alone don't tell the full story.
These timings are a starting point, not a proven conversion formula. Adjust the sequence to match what people signed up for.
